Online Marketing Manager - Filled

We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced web marketing professional with strong analytic skills and multi-channel marketing experience to play a central role in the continued development and growth of our online lead generation activities.

Zendesk relies on SEM, SEO, partner and affiliate marketing, viral-, brand- and guerilla marketing to generate leads. The candidate must have documented experience in developing and managing such marketing campaigns and efficiently track and measure the ROI showing correlation with conversion rates and revenues.

We expect the candidate to be familiar with online marketing tools such as Google Adwords and Google Analytics, Salesforce.com, Mailchimp, and SurveyMonkey.

You're expected to implement metrics reporting and prepare weekly reports and forecasts and you will work tightly with the inside sales team and customer advocates group.


Product Marketing Manager

We are looking for an energetic and experienced product marketing professional with strong copywriting skills and Enterprise 2.0 / Web application marketing experience.

We're in a constant process of improving and formalizing our development procedures to ensure a smooth process from feature scoping to product implementation and customer briefing. We want you to drive the process of producing the written content and ensuring full transparency for all Zendesk stakeholders.

More specifically you will be involved in the content production and overall responsibility for:

- Newsletters
- Email campaigns
- Web site written content
- Screencasts
- Webcasts
- FAQs
- Success stories
- Best practice case stories

You will work tightly with both the product management and sales teams and will interface with our PR agency.


Product Manager

The Product Manager is responsible for managing Zendesk’s software-as-a-service help desk platform through the entire product development lifecycle. The Product Manager will gather and prioritize product requirements from customers, partners and key individuals of the Zendesk product team and will report directly to the Chief Product Officer.

Responsibilities:

- Implement a structured and data-driven requirements gathering process
- Conduct customer surveys
- Own and maintain the product roadmap
- Ensure that all new product upgrades are communicated externally
- Work closely with engineering to design solutions
- Work with UI designers and drive usability studies

Requirements:

- Demonstrated success with another innovative B2B software-as-a-service vendor
- Demonstrated ability to work well across the organization
- 5+ years product development experience in the online space
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with proven experience managing complex products
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Strong technical background with an understanding of the limitations and potential of current web development technologies


Database Administrator - Filled

The DBA is responsible for Zendesk’s database schema as well as any operational aspects of its test, staging and production database environments. The DBA will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and will work closely with the entire development team on enhancing and tuning database operations.

Responsibilities:

- Monitor database operations and implementing early warning systems
- Development and optimize database schema and physical implementation
- Tune and optimize the performance of staging and product database instances
- Plan and execute disaster recovery
- Establish mechanisms for data backup/restore of relational database
- Assist in performance testing new releases on real customer data
- Design and implement replication mechanisms for analytics solution

Requirements:

- Detail-oriented and facts-based approach to databases
- Demonstrated experience with open-source databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Strong skills in data profiling, query analysis and optimization
- Experience with full-text search engines
- Experience with memcached and other caching mechanisms
- Solid understanding and experience in disaster recovery, planning and implementation
- Demonstrated experience with replication and sharding
- Experience with Ruby on Rails and NewRelic a plus


UI/UX Designer

We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced UI/UX designer.

Zendesk is a UI-driven web application for customer care and support. Your number one priority is to keep the Zendesk user experience pleasant and hassle-free. This includes initiating, suggesting and spearheading major UI refactorings for a cleaner and more intuitive user experience, and coordinating with front- and back-end developers. You'll be working with a world class team on a product that is renowned for putting usability first.

You have some prior work which you're very proud to show us and a deep understanding of web application usability, combined with a strong graphic flair and an eye for visual consistency. You love to innovate and design things that people will tweet and blog about.

Requirements

- Well-versed in fundamental visual and interactive design discipline.
- Excellent visualization skills. Ability to articulate concepts and ideas through low- and high-fidelity prototypes.
- A way with words and a knack for reducing the complex to the bare essentials.
- Hands-on experience with front-end technologies - HTML/CSS/JS/AJAX.
- Knowing your way around Rails views is a plus


Front-end Developer

We are currently looking for an energetic and experienced front-end developer. You take pride in clean client markup, re-usable design elements and understand that the real world consists of a plethora of browsers and "standards" (i.e. test, test and test). You can multi-task and prioritize. You'll be working with a world class team on a product that is renowned for putting usability first.

Requirements:

- 3+ years experience with (handcoded) HTML, CSS, JS.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript including object-oriented JavaScript, DOM scripting, and AJAX.
- Ability to implement client-side libraries/frameworks such as Prototype, JQuery and Scriptaculous.
- Ability to write DHTML that looks (and feels) like Flash.
- Knowing your way around Rails views and Git is a big, fat plus.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science or Engineering preferred


API Developer - Filled

The API developer will be responsible for enhancing, optimizing, and deploying on Zendesk’s APIs. The API developer will be part of a team dedicated to strengthening Zendesk’s integration capabilities.

Responsibilities:

- Optimize the performance of Zendesk’s REST API for massive scalability
- Design and implement debugging tools to better help developers
- Maintain test harness and ensure 100% test coverage
- Maintain online documentation
- Improve usability of API and Zendesk’s widget framework
- Provide 2nd/3rd line support for API support questions

Requirements:

- Minimum 2 years full-time experience with Ruby on Rails development and RESTful programming
- Ability to design and implement complex software architectures that are robust and massively scalable
- Proficiency in test-driven development
- Experience with single sign-on technologies, such as SAML and OpenID
- Experience with git and version control
- Strong written communications skills


Back Office Developer - On Hold

The back office developer will be responsible for enhancing and maintaining Zendesk’s back office infrastructure and integration of the various business applications, including billing, Google Analytics and Salesforce.com. As a SaaS vendor, data accuracy and the ability to analyze metrics are critical to the company’s success. The back office developer will report to the CTO.

Responsibilities:

- Maintain and document overall architecture of Zendesk’s back office applications
- Maintain Zendesk’s internal administration module
- Enhance Zendesk’s integration with Salesforce.com
- Maintain Zendesk’s internal billing and payment processing functionality
- Design and implement data model for all customer and sales data
- Ensure data integrity between applications

Requirements:

- Minimum 2 years full-time experience with Ruby on Rails development and RESTful programming
- Ability to design and implement complex software architectures that are robust and massively scalable
- Experience with billing and credit card processing
- Experience with Salesforce.com desired
- Experience with Google AdWords and Analytics desired
- Proficiency in test-driven development
- Experience with git and version control
- Strong written communications skills


Application Engineer

We're looking for a developer extraordinaire. The ideal candidate is a pragmatist who enjoys turning complexity into well structured, scalable and maintainable solutions. You understand the importance of keeping things clean, and know what works and what doesn't.

You are confident with *nix and open source databases, and have extensive experience with at least a few of the following technologies (or strong desire to work with them): Memcached, Git/Github, Sphinx, Nanite/RabbitMQ, TMail, authentication mechanisms (OAuth, OpenID etc.), Amazon EC2/S3.

It's a strong bonus if you can provide code samples of your work, preferably from existing open source projects.

Responsibilities:

- Design, implement, and maintain application and infrastructure components
- Refactor and improve maintainability of the codebase
- Rapidly fix bugs and solve problems
- Conduct design and code reviews
- Interface with product, front-end, and operations teams

Requirements:

- Expert knowledge developing and debugging in Ruby on Rails
- Disciplined approach to development, testing, and quality assurance
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Preferably active contributor to open source software
- Experience with git and version control
- Experience with databases and caching
